Online Ordering System

You can use the Online Ordering System to order a variety of media and technology services and projects and to track the status of your request. Please note, however, that you cannot use the Online Ordering System to request such things as data projectors, VCRs, or digital cameras; to request such equipment, please call extension 3286.

Blackboard Online Instruction -  Academic Technologies can help you prepare a variety of materials for use on your Blackboard course website. We can also assist you in designing your course site and developing effective strategies for teaching online. Note: The quality and resolution of materials will be optimized for online use and may not be suitable for other uses (such as printing a handout or displaying the materials in class).

• Convert Word-Processed Documents - Conversion of word-processed documents to HTML, PDF, or other format suitable for downloading or for display on the web.
• Scanning - Photos, illustrations, 35-mm slides, or text for display in Blackboard. NOTE: All scanning must comply with the Academic Technologies "Policy on Scanning Copyrighted Materials."
• Prepare Existing PowerPoint Files for Blackboard - For mounting existing PowerPoint files in Blackboard for display or downloading.
• Create Video Clips for Display in Blackboard - Clips are created from either existing video tape or existing digital footage.
• Record and Edit Lectures (Audio Only) - For playback or display on the Web (with or without graphics, slides, or screen captures).
• Music Recording - Recording or annotating music for instructional use.
• Create a Survey or Quiz - For online testing or online surveys within Blackboard.
• Blackboard Course Site Design - Consulting on the organization and design of your Blackboard course site.
• Instructional Design - Consulting on instructional strategies and ideas for online teaching.

Classroom Presentation Media -  Academic Technologies can produce a variety of multimedia materials to assist you in your classroom presentations and demonstrations. Note: The quality and resolution of materials will be optimized for presentations in class use and may not be suitable for other uses (such as printing a handout or displaying the materials on the Web).

• Create PowerPoint Slides or Presentations - For use in class or for display on the web.
• Scanning - Photos, illustrations, 35-mm slides, or text for use in PowerPoint or other presentation software. NOTE: All scanning must comply with the Academic Technologies "Policy on Scanning Copyrighted Materials."
• Create Video Clips for Classroom Use - Clips are created from existing videotape or digital footage for use in the classroom.
• Audio Recording and Editing - Recording and editing for playback in the classroom.
• Digital Photography - For presentation in class or display on the web.
• Video Tape Classroom Activities - Single camera, no editing.
• Traditional Presentation Services - Traditional presentation services include graphic design and production services in support of classroom instruction, such as the creation of overhead transparencies, 35-mm slides, and visual aids mounted on foam core.

Telecommunications -  Academic Technologies can assist you in using various telecommunications technologies for classroom instruction and other academic purposes.

• Arrange a Downlink - Video teleconferences received from satellite.
• Conduct a 2-way Videoconference - From on-campus to another location equipped with videoconferencing equipment.
• Install Speaker-Phone Equipment - For one-time use only. Contact the Office of Information Technology for long-term use of speaker-phone equipment.
• Develop a Televised Course for Local Cable Television (Knowledge Network) - Note: Such courses must be approved by your academic department and by Extended Studies.
• Create Video Learning Resources - For viewing on cable television and in the library (for example, review lessons, interviews, video recordings of demonstrations or field trips, etc.)

Video Production -  Academic Technologies can produce video projects for videotape, television broadcast, web streaming, or reproduction in digital formats such as CD ROM and DVD. Note: Production described here is for original production involving location and studio recordings, professional editing, and sound mixing. • Filming and Editing - Simple, short, single-concept videos.
• Video Production (Tape) - For broadcast quality recording of events, interviews, activities or promotions.
• Video Production (CD/DVD) - Reproduction and distribution on CD or DVD.
• Video Production for Web-Streaming (Downloading Online) - Video streaming from university servers must adhere to Boise State policy and must follow Boise State guidelines for content and quality. All streaming-video projects must be approved before being produced.
• Video Narrated Presentations for Online Instruction - Includes video-narrated PowerPoint presentations, and mini-lectures to be recorded for use in Blackboard courses.

Web Development -  Academic Technologies can assist you in designing and producing academic and instructional web pages, including the design of Active Server Pages and database applications.

• Design Instructional Web Pages - Select this item for instructional web pages that will be used outside of, or in addition to, Blackboard.
• Consulting on Database/Scripting Projects - Select this item if you wish to use active-server pages or web-based database applications for academic purposes.
• Multimedia and Interactive Teaching Materials - For instructional materials, Camtasia movies, or online interactive tutorials that incorporate a variety of media, such as text, images and video.

Other Services -  Additional services provided by Academic Technologies.

• Online Research - Internet-based research for retrieving websites and links to other resources.
• Software Training - For individualized faculty or student training in the use of software packages used to create instructional materials, including Photoshop, FrontPage and PowerPoint.
• Prepare Instructional Graphics for Online or Classroom Use - For basic graphic design of instructional materials, including banners for Blackboard course sites, instructional diagrams, or handouts for online or classroom use.
• Technical Documentation - Design and develop documentation related to technology, including job aids for using particular equipment and instructions for students given assignments involving technology.
• Consulting on Student Media Assignments - Consultation about creating and managing student projects that include a media component, such as web pages, PowerPoint presentations, and digital video. Discuss training and software available in the new Studio-D, Academic Technologies' multimedia production lab for students.
