The Teaching and Learning with Technology Roundtable (TLTR) was established in 1999 by Provost Daryl Jones, who appointed the Roundtable members and charged them with providing the University with advice, assistance, and leadership in incorporating technology into teaching. The current chair is Beth Brin, Albertson's Library. Serving on TLTR are Janet Atkinson, Extended Studies; Ben Hambelton, Academic Technologies; David O'Neill, Office of Information Technology; Don Winiecki, Engineering; Lisa McClain, Social Sciences and Public Affairs; Pat Shannon, Business and Economics; Darien Hartman, Applied Technology; Joan Carnosso, Health Sciences; Roger Munger, Art and Sciences; and Carolyn Thorsen, Education. During the past three academic years, the TLTR has been working to support the CoreOnline project, a 3-year undertaking that will provide training and experience in technology integration to 90 faculty, assist faculty in developing 30 high-quality online versions of core courses or other general-education introductory courses, and provide technical skills training and support for students to help ensure their success in online courses. (To learn more about the CoreOnline project, log in as a guest on the BSU Blackboard server and click through to the CoreOnline web site.) In addition, the TLTR has been working to facilitate a campus-wide discussion of pedagogical issues related to teaching with technology, primarily by sponsoring a series of facilitated discussions. This website contains brief descriptions of the discussions held in 2001, 2002, and 2003 along with supporting materials or transcripts from those discussions and links to resources related to those discussions. |
