On February 21, Edward R. Matjeka and Gary D.
Mercer of the Chemistry Department discussed their experiences using
Calibrated Peer Review (CPR), a web-based application for managing student
reviews of their own writing and the writing of their classmates.
Developed at UCLA, CPR involves students in the evaluation process,
helping them to learn through writing without overloading the instructor.
Specifically, CPR is a method of managing the assignment process, enabling
instructors to incorporate frequent writing assignments without a
substantial increase in workload. CPR is discipline independent and
involves students in both the writing process and the evaluation process.
The presentation provided an overview of CPR by describing how it is used
and the elements of a CPR assignment, focusing on the following steps:

All frames can be resized by hovering the cursor over a frame edge. When the cursor changes to an arrow, drag the edge of the frame to resize it.
