Tips For Administering Tests/Quizzes Via Blackboard |
- Requesting Use of the Academic
Technologies Online Testing Center
- Practice Quiz
- If you are planning to use the online quiz feature that
Blackboard provides, we suggest that you require all students to
take a "practice" quiz prior to taking a "graded" quiz in
Blackboard. The "practice" quiz should be short, password protected
(if you password protect “graded” quizzes) and include the same
question types used in the "graded" quiz (e.g., true/false, multiple
choice, etc.). We recommend that you make the "practice" quiz
available to students at least one week prior to giving a "graded"
quiz and that you allow students to take the quiz multiple times.
Taking the time to have students take a "practice" quiz is well
worth the effort. It relieves much of the fear and frustration a
student may experience the first time they take a quiz in
Blackboard. The "practice" quiz also confirms that the student can
login to Blackboard, access the correct course site, navigate within
the course site, follow your instructions for taking the quiz, and
successfully interact with and submit the quiz.
- Verify that Quiz is Working Properly
- Prior to deploying a quiz in Blackboard, please take each of
your quizzes yourself to ensure the password works correctly (if a
password is used), identify
any typographical errors, and verify that a perfect score can be
achieved. To take a quiz prior to making it available to students, click
on the associated link to the quiz in the Control Panel.
